LS is moving to the heart of the city!

What do you want to use the building for?

The building will provide office space, children’s space and a sanctuary with a capacity of up to 600 adults as well as a prayer room, nursing mother’s room, foyer and storage space. We’ll have access to the building for the whole week as opposed to our current sitaution in which we have space for only one day a week. We’ll occupy 15,000 sq. ft. of the 18,000 sq. ft. of this particular development.

The vision for this building is to have a hub of church planting in our region, helping us practically implement our overall vision and strategy of being a Gospel community in the city, for the city.

It will serve as our long term home base as we seek to influence the culture, redeem the culture and create new culture in the city of Reno by having a strategic location in the heart of downtown.

How did you land on this particular building?

The elders began seeking counsel and praying about options starting in October of 2009. Wise counsel was sought from multiple reputable sources: real estate developers, church planters and tradesmen. After weighing the expense of having separate office space, service space, worship band practice space, the prospect of a centralized building location became a wise and calculated investment.

There will be a huge improvement in the audio/video/relational experience for the entire community at services, due to a better seating layout (for optimal visual/interpersonal engagement), and technology upgrades.

What about money? How will LS pay for the lease and the materials needed to move in?

Money for the new lease comes from our existing operational budget. That said, we need every single person that calls LS their home to be giving sacrifically and regularly. It's more important than ever before!

We'll be taking a "sponsorship" approach to fund specific components of the project (e.g. "I'll sponsor 5 chairs," or "My community group will chip in together and pay for the materials of the baptismal," etc.). More info on this as well as an itemized list will be available in the near future.

We'll utilize labor from within the community for construction to further lower costs, particularly in regards to painting, flooring, and stage construction.

What needs to happen for us to move in?

The tentative schedule for the building will have us moving our offices and services onsite in early September. There is a lot of remodeling that needs to take place in that time frame.

We are asking you to pray that we would have favor with the city of Reno. We need to obtain their permission at several stages in the next few months and they have the power to allow us or prevent us from moving in.

We are deeply excited about this new chapter. If you have questions or know how you would like to support the transition into our new facility, email Brandon our Business and Strategy Pastor, and let him know now!
