Fallen Walls
Fallen Walls is the Living Stones Community's missional outreach ministry, designed to take the Word and love of Jesus out into the surrounding city.
The strategy of Fallen Walls has two components; community wide outreach events and ongoing service opportunities.
As we seek to be In the City, For the City, we want to engage the body of Living Stones throughout the year in several large community wide service projects designed to serve, heal and show the love of Jesus to the city. In the past these have included working with Washoe County Parks & Recreation, Homeless Awareness day, clothing drives, Reno Clean & Green, Gift of Hope, food drives, etc.
Our desire is to not only to serve the city a few times a year, but to engage the city on a regular basis for greatest impact and partnership. Below are several organizations we have partnered with to be on mission in the city.
Big Brothers Big Sisters:
Invest in the lives of at risk children by becoming a one-on-one mentor. Statistics show that children who have a “Big” are 52% less likely to skip a day of school, 46% less likely to start using illegal drugs and are 27% less likely to start drinking. We especially need MEN to step up. Currently boys are not accepted into BBBS due to the lack of men willing to mentor.
Feeding at the Gospel Mission:
Work with a team to provide and prepare a meal for the homeless.
Pathfinders:
Mentor, love and witness to inner city, broken and near homeless children in our city. Volunteers take vans and pick up the children downtown and take them offsite to provide them with a meal, Bible teaching, worship, mentoring, tutoring, etc. There are a number of different types of service opportunities within Pathfinders.
Hosanna Home: Is an eight-bed, six-month interim shelter which provides a safe, structured community where women and staff work together to meet goals such as housing, employment, family reunification, improved health and education. Looking for women volunteers to help coach, lead Bible studies, and teach life and work skills.
International University Students:
We offer two opportunities for those wishing to minister to the international students on the University of Nevada Reno campus. the first option is to be a "conversation partner" where you meet with students one on one, helping them with their language development and building relationship for the sake of the Gospel. Option 2 is joining a current ministry soccer or volleyball team and sharing Christ through you involvement and relationship.
